For this blog and several others to come, I am going to be writing about the different decorative details and accents that can be added to a cabinet design to create unique and personalized touches that overall complete the look of any kitchen, home office, dry/wet bar, or any other place in the home you want to create an impact.
For today’s topic, we’ll be discussing our different glass inserts you can add to wall cabinets to create visual interest in a room. Depending on what you choose glass inserts can display collectibles or fine china, or offer another texture to the overall look of your cabinets.
Prepare for…Glass!
Most of Dura Supremes door styles can be designed with our Frame and Glass/Mirror modification for wall cabinets. When this is specified, we remove the center panel of the door and you can choose from decorative glass or mirror that we supply and install for you. We secure the glass with a clear vinyl retaining strip which prevents the glass from rattling and provides a clean look. We offer several styles of glass inserts, 5 mirror options, as well as back painted glass in white and black.

This beautiful built-in uses tall wall cabinets with doors modified to have clear glass inserts. The intermediate rail which is standard on doors over 48″ splits the doors equally with two glass inserts.

Prepare for…Mirror!
Adding mirrors to your kitchen design is another option you can choose for your Dura Supreme cabinetry. Mirrors hide what is behind the doors while still adding a decorative element to the room. Mirrors not only make a room seem larger, but they can reflect light back, making spaces look brighter.
Prepare for…Leaded Glass!
Yes, leaded glass inserts can be a beautiful alternative that our doors can be modified with. We have 12 different leaded glass options to choose from for an old-world look and feel to your cabinets. The cameing that creates the glass panels is offered in a pewter finish as standard, however brass, copper, and nickel can be specified.

Prepare for…Your Own Insert!
If our glass inserts won’t work with what you are looking to do, you also can have us remove the center panel and supply your own insert. This is where you can get super creative and think outside the box when it comes to decorative inserts for your cabinet doors. You can choose glass that is sourced locally by your favorite artisan, use perforated metal sheets, decorative chicken wire…the options are endless! With this modification, we supply a clear vinyl retaining strip to hold your insert in place if needed.
