Dura Supreme offers many different options for decorative doors to complement any design. As we continue our series on decorative design elements that add detail to cabinets, we’re now going to take a look at our Aluminum Frame Door options. Aluminum frame doors are not just for contemporary kitchen designs. While they may be necessary to add when working with door styles that don’t offer a glass door option, Aluminum Frames can add another layer of texture to cabinet doors, regardless if they are wood or a contemporary material like acrylic.
Dura Supreme offers 9 different aluminum frame doors in our Bria frameless line, with 7 of those doors also offered in our Crestwood framed line (but only in full overlay). Depending on the style you choose, they can offer a very transitional look. Not only are there different door frame options, but we also offer 8 different finishes and 33 different inserts!
We’re going to take a look at a few projects that have aluminum frame doors added to the design. Many of our contemporary doors do not have a cut for glass option available so using Aluminum Frame doors is a great way to add glass to the room.
The kitchen below is a contemporary design using our Tempo Textured Foil in Cottage Oak mixed with Metro in Walnut. The lift hinge doors were created with our Aluminum Frame door style 11 in Oil Rubbed Bronze with matte back painted glass in Sand ↓

This entryway boot bench is sleek and modern and very transitional. The upper doors are Aluminum Frame Style 3 in a Graphite metal finish and the back painted glass in Mineral sits forward in this particular frame style ↓

The below kitchen is a gorgeous example of using aluminum frame doors in a transitional design. The design of our Inset Reese door style in Dove White is married perfectly with our style 1 aluminum frame door in an Onyx finish with clear glass. Both have the “skinny” shaker look that is popular in transitional cabinet design. It’s also a great example of mixing inset doors with frameless full overlay ↓

Aluminum frame doors can complement many different design styles. They’re not just for high style contemporary door styles, but can work with transitional stained or painted wood doors as well. Take a look at some pairing examples below.
Style 1 has a skinny frame profile that measures only 3/4″ wide – Perfect for our Reese or Sutton cabinet door styles. You can also match it easily with slab doors such as Camden or Moda. Change the finish of the aluminum frame for an additional pop of color and texture!
Style 14 has a thin exposed frame that lips over the glass panel but still has a full-frame you can see behind translucent glass. Some of our Aluminum Frames like this cabinet style will require the drilling for hardware to be done at our factory so you don’t have to worry about trying to drill through the glass in the field.
