For many years the kitchen has been considered the heart of the home – a place where family and friends can gather for great food and good conversation. Kitchens have opened up, allowing more light to flow through as well as the family to feel more connected.  Let’s face it, we’re feeling more connected than ever before – maybe even too connected, and our kitchens have morphed into spaces not just for cooking and eating, but also for studying and working.

Kitchen remodeling is at a high right now with the consumer looking for more seating options. Most of the time, kitchen seating consists of bar stools at an island or peninsula, but built-in “banquette” seating can be another great option to incorporate into the design. Built-in seating can offer comfort as well as storage with the addition of drawers or a hinged top. Below are several examples of built-in banquettes created by our network of talented Dura Supreme dealers and designers.

In addition to providing a comfortable and cozy place to sit, banquette seating can add storage with drawers below the seat or a tip-up wood top. These can help store board games and puzzles for family game nights, or keep coloring books, crayons, and crafts handy for the kids as meals are being prepared.
